At the eastern end of the Betic system of the province of Almeria, within the region of Alto Almanzora, is the Sierra de Lúcar. As it rises to a height of 1722 meters peak of the same name. This is a spectacular steep-walled limestone formation that stands in the landscape, forming a so-called geographic landmark "Piedra Lobera". Its name comes from the tradition that was in this place where the last specimen of wolves that existed in these mountains was exterminated .

Located on the east coast of Almeria, on the border with the province of Murcia and opposite the town of San Juan de Terreros in Pulpí municipality, is the Natural Monument Isla de Terreros and Isla Negra.
These two volcanic islands near the coast that have little vegetation on its surface, but its ecological importance lies in the variety of sea birds who find in these islands, a place of settlement and reproduction. In fact Isla de Terreros, being larger and located farther from the coast, home to the largest community of seabirds that nest in the province of Almeria.

Sierra Alhamilla

The Natural Area Sierra Alhamilla is located in the municipalities of Almería, Lucainena for Torres, Nijar, Pechina, Rioja and Taverns of the province of Almeria. Its area amounts to 8,500 hectares. It was declared a Natural Area by Law 2 / 1989 of July 18, for approving the inventory of protected natural areas of Andalusia and establishing additional measures for their protection (No. BOJA. 60, 27/07/1989 ) is also a Special Protection Area for Birds [ZEPA (1989)], and is proposed as Sites of Community Interest (LIC).

Isle of Alboran

Geographically it is located halfway between the Spanish and African coasts, where waters of different characteristics, allowing the existence of a high biological diversity and productivity, with an area of the most diverse of the Mediterranean.
