Piedra Lobera
Submitted by toti on 21 July, 2009 - 10:23At the eastern end of the Betic system of the province of Almeria, within the region of Alto Almanzora, is the Sierra de Lúcar. As it rises to a height of 1722 meters peak of the same name. This is a spectacular steep-walled limestone formation that stands in the landscape, forming a so-called geographic landmark "Piedra Lobera". Its name comes from the tradition that was in this place where the last specimen of wolves that existed in these mountains was exterminated .
